Two WiFi Access Points?
I now have two WiFi Access Points set up: a WPA-protected one with access to my Internal network and on my DSL line, and a totally open one connected directly to my Cable modem.
The nice thing about this arrangement is that my Cable modem is generally idle except either when my DSL is down, or I need to test something using a different Internet connection. If someone manages to find my access point, oh well. I have nothing else connected to that network that isn’t a firewall or otherwise firewalled. If someone compromises the access point, it takes ten seconds or less to reset the unit to factory defaults.
I live far away enough from the “big city” that I’m not really worried that too many people will actually use my WiFi.
