How I Vote
For those of you in the United States, it's election day. Time to go out and vote if you haven't already.
For many years, I've voted absentee. Not because the process was particularly difficult, but because the process of going to a polling place takes time. Now with all the move towards technology at the voting booth, and some of the problems that show up as a result, I am extremely thankful I vote on a paper ballot at home.
The other nice thing about voting at home is that I have access to all the "research" that goes into voting correctly. Although to be honest, I tend to use the following criteria to vote:
1. If there's a Libertarian running, I vote for him.
2. If there's an incumbent running, vote against the incumbent. I tend to think politicians should be changed often, just like diapers, and for exactly the same reason.
3. If there's still a choice left, then I'll do the research.
This year, I added another criteria, which sits at zero on my list: Are they for NASCAR in Kitsap County or not. The proposed track would be very near to my house and would cause a lot of issues. Anyone for the track gets voted out.
For propositions, it's a little tougher, but rest assured, I voted. And because I'm using the nice, low-tech paper ballot, I'm pretty sure my vote will get counted.
