Speaking of Toys…

Today, I found an excellent deal on a dual-layer DVD writer–$40 at the Frys down in the Bay Area. It is an 16X Double Layer 8.5GB DVD+/-RW Drive. I do have some DVD+R media to try one I download Ye Olde Knoppix DVD via Bittorrent. (It’s either that or make a copy of an existing DVD)

I can say that Linux picked up this DVD burner right away. k3b (the burning app under KDE on Linux) detected that it could burn DVDs, etc and made me install some new apps. How good it does remains to be seen.
