While Nokia’s been “experimenting” with Windows Phone, they’ve been working on their Asha line of phones that is geared towards developing nations with much more restricted mobile networks. Personally, I find these more intriguing. And I wonder, like Mister Mobility does, is Asha OS the first world smartphone for a third world mobile network?

As The Verge points out, Google has not yet combined all of their various communication services into the new Hangouts app for iOS and Android. We’re still missing large chunks of Google Voice.

It’s one thing for a guy like Tomi Ahonen to say that Nokia is not on the right track. And he’s been saying that for at least 2 years now. It’s quite another when your investors tell you “the road to hell is paved with good intentions. Please switch to another road.”

I don’t think it’s dead like this article from The Street suggests, but it’s definitely getting cheaper thanks to companies like Truphone and Maxroam.

At Google I/O, they announced that the Samsung Galaxy S4 would be getting the Nexus treatment, i.e. stock Android. It would be a special version they sell on the Google Play store for $649 starting June 28th.

Homomorphic Encryption will allow you to store data in the cloud, yet still work with it without requiring the data to be decrypted first. It was a theory that was proved possible, now a working implementation exists thanks to IBM!
