Skype without the computer?
According to Tom Keating, a company is working on a Skype telephone adapter that doesn’t require a computer to use. Of course, if Skype actually used open standards (or at least published the standards they use), then you’d probably see a wide range of software packages and adapters. I guess Skype wants to be a closed system. sigh
Today, you can purchase a Chat Cord and use software to make it possible to use a telephone handset with Skype for both making and receiving calls. Not quite the same thing as a standalone adapter, but better than being forced to sit at your computer.
