I Want It All In My Pocket
Right now I frequently find I have to carry two cell phones around–one for voice and one for data. The main reason for this has more to do with Cingular than anything else, mostly because they insist on restricting access to the “Network Selection” menu in the phones and my Nokia 9500, my primary data phone, needs a little “help” choosing the correct set of Cingualr twoers.
Anyway, the main thing I want is to essentially have a mobile computing environment in my pocket. The Nokia 9500 comes very close to meeting my needs. It’s a little big for the pocket, of course, but it has what I need, which is, in no particular order:
- Duad-band GSM handset with EDGE or UMTS 900/1900/
- Mobile Email
- A QWERTY keyboard
- A web browser that can browse real web sites
- WiFi
- Plays MP3s, hopefully doing a better job than the Nokia 9500 does.
- Allows you to plug in standard headphones into the phone (for music playing).
I can’t wait to get my hands on that device.
