SightSpeed Gets PC Magazine’s “Editors Choice” Award–Again
Several of us in the blogosphere have raved over SightSpeed’s video quality. It’s nice to see SightSpeed get some recognition from the conventional tech press as well. This is the second time SightSpeed has received the “Editors Choice” award. The other players in the space–all the conventional IM players, most of which have their own video calling solution–have a lot of catching up to do.
Here is the press release in all it’s glory:
SightSpeed 5.0 Receives Coveted PC Magazine and
PCMag.com “Editors’ Choice” Award
Berkeley, CA-August 16, 2006 — SightSpeed Inc. has once again received Ziff-Davis’ PC Magazine and PCMag.com’s prestigious “Editors’ Choice” award for SightSpeed 5.0, the company’s most recent product release.
PC Magazine hails SightSpeed 5.0 for its “brilliantly clear video calls” and for being “the best free video calling service, based on its unrivaled ability to produce real-time, fully synchronized calls” in the August 11th, 2006 review authored by associate editor Davis D. Janowski.
PC Magazine and PCMag.com reviewed SightSpeed 5.0 and concluded that “Skype’s video quality is considerably behind that of SightSpeed. That goes for the other free messaging communications client services from the big guys (AOL, Microsoft, Skype, and Yahoo, among others) as well.” For SightSpeed, the award represents the second time in the company’s history that PC Magazine and PCMag.com have recognized SightSpeed for their highest award.
“With each new version of SightSpeed, our company’s penchant for superior video quality, overall innovation, and category leadership has been consistently recognized and has, in fact, garnered increasing critical acclaim from the media and analyst community,” said Peter Csathy, CEO of SightSpeed. “PC Magazine’s Editors’ Choice award represents achievement and recognition by one of the more respected Windows watching media so we are grateful for their continued acknowledgement and respect.”
