Had to Disable Trackbacks
Some of you have pointed out to me or likely noticed I’ve been getting trackback spammed like the dickens. It seems that drupal has very effective mechanisms for handling comment spam, namely the Akismet module, but unfortunately, this method doesn’t work for trackspam spam and the existing mechanisms are woefully inadequate. Until a better method arises, I have disabled trackbacks and have instead enabled the trackback_blackhole module, which effectively /dev/nulls any requests for posting or viewing trackbacks.
If anyone has an effective method for dealing with trackback spam in Drupal 4.7, I’m all ears.
