RingFree To Be Just That–Free
I noticed an entry on the RingFree blog about how they are going to change their pricing model on Monday. The last sentence at the end got me thinking: “We think you’ll be pleasantly surprised . . . very pleasantly.”
Doesn’t take a rocket scientist to come to the conclusion that it’s going to be cheaper or, more likely, free. A quick email exchange with Marcelo confirms the supposition: RingFree will be advertising supported. I didn’t get into the details with him on how this will work, but there are only a couple of ways they could do it, neither of which are mutually exclusive:
- In the call as part of the ringback tone
- In the RingFree web application itself
I, of course, can’t give it a shot since I don’t have an iPhone. Meanwhile, iPhone users have absolutely no excuse to give this a try now that it doesn’t appear they have any plans on charging for the privilege.
Update: Marcelo confirms it.
