The Nokia E66 and E71 Are Finally Announced!
In what had to be one of the worst-kept secrets at Nokia, they finally announced the Nokia E66 and Nokia E71 handsets. Obviously, people had been talking about this handset for months, complete with pictures and device reviews. Due to company policy, I wasn’t allowed to discuss the device. It even came up on a recent Squawk Box podcast that I was participating in, and I had to flat out say that I could not talk about it. Hate doing that, but I like working for Nokia .
I have not had a chance to play with the software on a Nokia E71 or the E66, beyond an initial look several months ago. However, I can tell you the E71 hardware just feels nice. *It’s about the right size, though it seems a little heavier than it’s size would suggest. That’s not a bad thing, it gives it a *solid feel.
Various people in my Jaiku stream were complaining that it’s S60 3.1 and not the S60 3.2. I have been playing with S60 3.2 on another device and I have to agree that it has some nice features. It’s also not uncommon to see certain features from newer S60 verisons backported to older S60 versions running on newer devices. I have no idea if that’s the case here or not.
In any case, I am looking forward to getting my hands on the E71 and exploring it in more detail.
