Nokia Firewall, VPN, and IPSO Configuration Guide Now Available
Andrew Hay and Warren Verbanec, two of my former co-workers, along with Peter Giannoulis and Keli Hay have come together to make the Nokia Firewall, VPN, and IPSO Configuration Guide. These folks have put together a comprehensive tome covering all of Nokia’s network security solutions, though the primary focus is on Nokia IPSO and Check Point VPN-1. I also played a small role in this book by writing the foreward for it, as well as helping both Andrew and Warren with various things over the years.
Of course, since the time this book was finished, but before it was printed and bound, and available on amazom.com and other places, Nokia announced it was selling off the Security Appliance business. Even if the boxes have a different name on them, which must happen eventually as result of new ownership, they’ll still be the same high-quality systems you’ve come to know and love from Nokia.

Nokia doesn’t care about its business users too much! Nokia needs to make a Mobile VPN client that actaully works and can connect using PPTP, OpenVPN, OpenSSL, Cisco Concentrator etc.
I’ve always been a Nokia user, but one of the one biggest business related holes which I’ve noticed in Nokia S60 devices is their VPN implementation.
Power / Business users need proper VPN, even the crappy version 1 iPhone can do basic PPTP connections. Nokia can only do the horrible and expensive to implement ‘IPsec’ (Who uses that?). Good luck finding affordable IPsec VPN providers for home use.
Eseries has been out for years, why isn’t Nokia covering PPTP and Open SSL/OpenVPN? It’s just software isn’t it?
This means a lot to those who live in countries like United Arab Emirates, China, & Saudi Arabia where most of the cool sites/services like Last.FM, Flickr, All SIP services, Skype etc, have been blocked for years. This lack of proper VPN support hurts us financially, as much I like Nokia, they really suck at implementing proper VPN.
I hope Nokia hears my cry :_(

Actually, quite a lot of people use IPSec VPNs. It’s how many client-to-site and site-to-site VPNs work. I’ve also read that it is possible to make a Nokia device work with a Cisco Concentrator. As to why there is no PPTP support, I can’t comment.
