PhoneBoy Speaks Ep 1048: T-Mobile USA Binges On Nerd Rage
T-Mobile USA recently introduced Binge On, a way to view more videos on your mobile device while using less of your high-speed data. This feature is enabled for every T-Mobile USA customer but can be disabled. For all videos, whether they are from their approved partners or not, the video streams at about 1.5 mb/s, even on LTE. Videos from approved partners don’t count against the high-speed data cap. T-Mobile CEO John Legere calls it optimization, others are calling it throttling–which is technically correct–and a net neutrality violation.
