Some of these may be unique to me and how I consume podcasts, but, here’s what I look for in a podcast app these days:
- Podcasting 2.0 compliance
- Inbox for new episodes to decide to skip/add to queue
- Per podcast playback prefs for speed, auto queueing, downloading (versus streaming), and deleting downloads
- Multiple play queues with different auto-advance options
- Refresh from RSS feed directly
- Sample a podcast episode without subscribing
- Intelligent queue sorting options
- Local Bookmarks
