Computers have been playing games like chess and poker for some time. However it takes quite a lot of computing power (and smarts) to beat the best human players.
Recently a computer program was designed to tackle two-player limit Texas Hold’em. Over time, it will win, which is the best you can hope for in gambling games. And of course it doesn’t solve Texas Hold’em in general, and it requires a ton of storage to do so, but it’s the first step.
