When we think of mobile phone service, we tend to think it uses a mobile phone network of some sort, with WiFi being provided as an option for some of its services. A few providers in the US have turned this model on its head, using WiFi as it’s primary network with traditional 3G/4G/LTE as a backup. The benefit to the customer: a lower cost service.
