Happy Birthday is covered under copyright in the United States, or is it? A lawsuit against Warner/Chappele, the company that owns the copyright on that song contends either it’s not under copyright or the copyright expired. The smoking gun? Some documents that came out as part of the discovery process, only Warner/Chappelle “forgot” to provide it. Gee, I wonder why.
