Chances are, if you have home Internet access with Comcast, you’re renting a modem from them. If it has WiFi on it, you’re sharing your Internet with every other Comcast customer that comes near your house. Supposedly, you can opt out of this, but for a lot of people, that opt-out process isn’t working. It’s gotten bad enough that Comcast is being sued over this practice.
My advice: buy your own cable modem without WiFi and save the $10/mo modem rental fee, which Comcast is profiting off to the tune of $300 million a quarter.
